|Aire Valley Rail Users' Group|
|Working to improve rail services in the Aire Valley|
Who are we?
A non party-political body of rail users formed to ensure that rail passengers on the Airedale line enjoy the best possible train services and station facilities. The Airedale line runs from Leeds and Bradford to Skipton, serving intermediate stations of Shipley, Saltaire, Bingley, Crossflatts, Keighley, Steeton & Silsden, and Cononley. Cononley is in North Yorkshire, the remainder of the intermediate stations are in the Bradford Metropolitan area of West Yorkshire.
We campaign directly for services on the Airedale line and on the routes from Airedale to Carlisle, Morecambe, and London. We liaise with the train operators such as Northern Rail and Eastcoast as well as Metro & Network Rail.
We have close relationships with other rail user groups, especially the
Lancaster and Skipton RUG, the Wharfedale RUG, the Friends of the Settle
and Carlisle Line and the Leeds-Lancaster-Morecambe Community Rail Partnership.
What has been achieved since the group started?
The electrification of the whole route from Leeds and Bradford to Skipton, more frequent trains, station refurbishment, a through train to London, as well as our very modern electric train fleet.
